Listen closely and you can hear the
tones of cultures from long ago. The scene is filled with
ornate castles and residences with merriment and finery.
Rooms were filled with intricate Aubussons and Savonneries
cultured patrons admired the grandeur and grace of these
fine rugs.
Tajzoy Oriental Rugs has a fine selection
of beautiful and inspiring Savonneries and Aubussons that
would make a fine addition to any décor. All are
available in custom sizes and color palettes.
Savonneries are wool carpets with
pile woven in 19th Century France for royalty
or the very wealthy. They have beautiful designs and
often range from floral patterns with a full palette of
pastel shades, to masculine designs with vibrant colors.
Images of Rococo-style Savonneries
hint of lightness, delicacy and elaborate ornamentation,
while rugs woven for the court of Louis XVI speak of strength
with an open design and colors of blue and gold with straight
lines. In design circles, the medallion or center of the
rug usually mirrored the design of the ceiling. If the
ceiling were oval, for example, the medallion would be
in the same shape and length of the ceiling.
Aubussons are luxurious, with a feel
and texture wondrous and reminiscent of far off, mysterious
lands. With similar colors and designs as Savonneries,
Aubussons have a flat weave without a pile.
