Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is a world leader in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions, including scoliosis, clubfoot, hand disorders, hip disorders and limb-length differences, as well as certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. TSRHC had an outdated website, with very little information on the conditions they treat at the Hospital, a navigation system that was difficult to expand, and no search optimization. TSRHC had tried for 4 years to launch a new website internally, but the project was constantly stymied.
Masterlink quickly jumped into what TSRHC thought was going to be a daunting task and got to work. Masterlink brought in one of their knowledgeable Project Managers (PM) on-site at TSRHC to determine ways to streamline project communication, address the different needs and wants of the departments, and tackle the vast amount of information that needed be gathered and written for the site. Because of the large amount of information, Masterlink recommended a phased approach to their project. The PM met with each department to coordinate needs, develop detailed site maps, scope of work documents, and timelines. As the site was being developed, the assigned PM continued to meet with departments and coordinate with their internal marketing group, to make sure all content was developed in a timely manner, went through the proper approval channels, and that the site and content remained congruent with all other types of communication. TSRHC’s ability to manage and change their site through Masterlink’s Content Management System with version control has also been an important feature to help them keep the site up to date.
Within 9 months, Masterlink accomplished what TSRHC had been trying to accomplish for 4 years. Phase I of the new site, complete with online e-commerce for their gift shop, was launched to raving reviews – staff, volunteers, doctors, patients and prospective patients all loved the new site with its ease of use and flexibility for growth. Masterlink’s PM is now working with TSRHC on their Phase II plan to continually bring new information to the site each and every month. In addition, Masterlink’s search marketing team has vastly improved the TSRHC site rankings for many relevant search terms, and continue to improve those rankings each month.
